I believe meditation is a mental practice that requires learned discipline to control the mind to focus on one thing at a time. There are many forms of meditation and they all serve a purpose. This self-practice trains & strengthens the brain’s attention and awareness, cultivating concentration, clarity, and calmness of the mind.
I strive to strengthen the mind alongside the body.
Pranayama/Breath Work
Pranayama is a term used in yoga, in the language of Sanskrit, referring to the breath. “Prana” means life force. “Yama” means restrain or control. Pranayama is one of the 8 limbs of yoga, where one focuses on breathing exercises and techniques. The breath is important in your yoga practice BUT essential to life. Breathing exercises have many benefits on they body; enhance oxygen and blood flow to and from the heart and brain. Fires up the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting calmness, controls breathing patters, and more!
I strive to spend time focusing on the breath, fully observing and experiencing the body breathing.
